Google’s Pixel 2 XL also appears to suffer from poor audio recording quality

Google’s Pixel 2 XL, which has been plagued by screen problems, has another stumbling block to contend with: poor audio recording quality. As first spotted by CNET, and reported by Pixel users on Google forums, the Pixel 2 XL is recording audio that’s high-pitched and distorted.

User Tom Shelton uploaded a video shot on his Pixel 2 XL device that demonstrated the audio problems, and said he returned the phone because of the issue. A few other users said their device also suffered from the same difficulties, with one adding that 4K videos shot on the device also display “crazy hazing” when the camera is moving. “Anything in the background sounds like I’m underwater with screeching,” wrote another user of the audio problems.

Google told CNET it’s aware of the audio issues and that a fix will be “rolled out in the next few weeks.” The Google Pixel 2 XL has had issues with its LG display. Pixel 2, the smaller sibling, uses a Samsung-produced OLED display, so it doesn’t have the screen issues, but it does suffer from odd clicking sounds. Luckily, if you’re worried, the company recently began offering a two-year warranty on Pixel 2 devices.
